It’s that time of the year again!
The majestic gray whales are on their annual migration from the arctic north of the Bering Sea so they can enjoy the warm waters of the Baja lagoons and raise their calves.
Migrations typically begin in December and end in mid April. It is a roughly 5,000 mile journey for the whales.
The Rosarito Beach region is one of best spots to see these majestic creatures. The whales typically swim closer to the shore where they are easy to see when you stand on the beach.
Even from a distance, it is breathtaking to see the group of whales passing through the waters. Some prefer just sitting on a hill or on the beach with a pair of binoculars to enjoy the migration and maybe catch some of the whales spouting.
If you want to see these majestic creatures up close instead of from the beach, take a trip to Ensenada where there are several whale watching tours available.
Head out for a cruise with Sergio’s Sport Fishing. They offer deep-sea private tours and open party trips out of Ensenada in the Todos Santos Bay. Whale watching trips are available until April 15th.
After a long day of sightseeing, come back and enjoy one of these top restaurants in town. You can’t go wrong with the food in Rosarito Beach.
Come plan your trip today to see this legendary migration and enjoy nature’s beauty at its finest.
