One of the best aspects of Rosarito is its proximity to the U.S. border and the closest major U.S city which is San Diego.
In fact, a quick Google search reveals that the travel time is only 43 minutes!
Here’s how we best recommend getting to our beachside resort.
From San Diego, take Interstate Highway 5 or Interstate 805 south. This route will take you directly to the San Ysidro California border crossing just outside Tijuana.
When you get to the border, be prepared to have your passport ready. Also, know that Mexico has different rules and regulations for car insurance. For more information about car insurance in Mexico, click here.
There are two ways to get to Rosarito from the border. The toll road and the free road. We recommend the toll road because it is quicker and still provides breathtaking views of Baja California as you drive into the region. The toll is about $2.40 in U.S. dollars.
To find the toll road, get into the far right lane and look for the “Rosarito-Ensenada” scenic road sign.
You’ll notice the border barriers on your right hand side as you follow the exit. When you get to the end of the road, stay right while following the “Rosarito/Ensenada” exit.
Take this road until you get to the aforementioned tollbooth. Once past the tollbooth, it’s a very enjoyable ride, both from a driving point of view as four lanes emerge and from an aesthetic point of view as the scenery comes into focus.
After you get to the four-lane portion of the road, it’s about 17 miles to Rosarito Beach. There are four exits that will take you to Rosarito.
The first exit takes you into town via the main street, Boulevard Benito Juarez, which is where we are located. Our address number is 907-24.
